Tossing and Turning

I seem to be in that state where your body is dead tired, ready to shut down for rest and your brain wants to have an internal monologue. I would love to tell my brain to please knock it off and go to sleep. So far, I cannot do that. I am victim to the recesses of my mental minefield. Tonight’s debate is what makeup I want to buy from Chanel, and what shopping trips I should plan with my friend Shannon. Superficial and petty I know but I feel a little down with her moving. So I decide retail therapy is needed, in which I am a firm believer in. Busying myself with these lavish shopping sprees in my head, until I get paid and can finally do the damage to my wallet that it deserves, and can handle. For you see I have the knack of always finding some way to spend my money, but such is life. I say if you feel a little down, buy yourself something. Money is meant to be spent, live a little. Enjoy. Well, it’s 4am, I need sleep and I think my brain is finally ready for rest. Goodnight.

So as the title suggests, I’ve decided to tackle the almighty Granny Square. I’m going to make  a blanket. I know I have started another blanket before but that one is such a grand project I will just have to put it on the back burner for now. Well this blanket I wanted to do 2 things, one was to make a funky throw, and two to use up all my scrap yarn.

This is how I store my yarn, in a vintage suitcase. I have heaps of scrap yarn laying about inside this case.

I’ve seen a couple of granny square afghans using scrap yarn, and I’ve simply fallen in love with them! Naturally I must make one for myself! 😀 So I’ve never actually made a Granny Square let alone a whole blanket, but I couldn’t let this turn me off of the idea. I was feeling adventurous and confident. So I looked up a Granny Square How-To, and started, I could not believe how simple it was. Sailing through this project, I can’t wait to finish and curl up under it. Here’s a peek at how it looks so far:

I like it, and suggest anyone reading this to make one as well. It’s a great project to use up your scrap yarn, and who couldn’t use a neat little throw?

Happy Thanksgiving

So this year my Mom decided she wanted all her kids back at the house to celebrate. So reluctantly I gathered my things and made my way over. Oh and the tasks that lay ahead of me, I had to bake a ham and turkey for dinner. Then I noticed the naked dining room table, I couldn’t leave this table bare could I? So I used what I could find in the china cabinet and dressed the table to the best of my abilities. I think it came out pretty cute. 🙂

Here I am for the world to see.

Me and MAC.

Alright, let me introduce myself, my name is Mike and I have an addiction to crafting and making things. My current interests are crocheting, cooking/baking, sewing, and jewelery making. You will see various posts on said subjects.  I am gay and 6’7″ and in the words of Julia Child: “Being tall is an advantage, especially in business. People will always remember you. And if you’re in a crowd, you’ll always have some clean air to breathe.”
-Julia Child.

That’s what I strive to be, someone you will always remember, and enjoying the fresh air. ^_^ I have two brothers, one 11 months older and one 2 years younger. I have one puppy that is the love of my life, her name is MAC and yes I turn into one of those crazy people that baby talk to their dog because they are their baby.

I really dont want to be a dad and my puppy is enough for me. I tend to always start projects and not follow through with them. I recently decided to jump into my new passion, that is jewelery making. With much help from my friend Val. Check out her blog she is an awesome friend. 😀 I decided hey why the hell not, I bought a lot of findings on ebay and am going to start crafting asap. I feel that crafting and what not is a female dominated world. I know that this isn’t by choice but what the cultural forcing of gender roles has done. So with that I shall end this swiftly, posts should be short and I apologize for dragging on, so I will leave you with this. I am just one person in this crazy world trying to make what I can from it so…. here we go. wish me luck.

Hello world!
